Marco's beachfront is a wall of Gulf-front towers — Cape Marco's six Mediterranean high-rises, South Seas Club, the Esplanade — each with association rules on uniform exterior appearance. Hurricane Irma made direct landfall on Marco on September 10, 2017 — 57 years to the day after Hurricane Donna did the same. Ian followed in 2022 with an island-average eight feet of storm surge that hit Hideaway Beach and the south end hardest. Homes here get rebuilt stronger every cycle, and window treatments should too.
